Stallions Standing in 2023
2015 Smooth It Over Guy & 2018 My Sexy Sancho
Selecting a stallion for your mare is no easy task when it comes to what's available. The stallion market is saturated with choices. Why we chose our stallions, and why we feel they are worthy to reproduce is based on a few factors. Proven pedigree, you can ride papers, pedigree gives you a huge advantage when it comes to bringing quality colts into the world. I am also a firm believer in having stallions who are used, shown, trained and have earned the right to reproduce, not just a fancy set of papers. If a stallion doesn't have a good mind, then we don't believe they should be bringing colts into the world. Same goes for mares, if they have bad minds, we don't want to the breed them. We are open to quality mares who have been tested and are 6 panel N/N and who have been trained and used or have a very valid reason why they weren't. This may come as a shock to some, but I am OK not covering 1 outside mare, I have enough of my own.

What type of mares I like to breed to Smooth it Over Guy.
Big boned mares with big good feet. Guy has beautiful confirmation for a barrel horse or running horse, but he's a tad small for my liking. So size is a bonus in a mare. When people ask me what I would change about him, I always say I would add another 2" to him and he would be perfect !
I like breeding quieter mares to him, mares who say YES and mares who are intelligent. Guy is incredibly intelligent, incredibly athletic and also incredibly sensitive. So crossing that on a mare like him, or a mare who was counterfeit is a recipe for a disaster in my opinion.

Types of Mares I like breeding to Sancho, basically any mare that doesn't compliment Guy, because she is light boned, hot minded, or thin skinned. Sancho is the man for the task.
Sancho is incredibly likable, kind, gentle, non reactive, a little slower footed than Guy, but a powerhouse of muscle and strength. He will never be the one with top end speed, he will be correct and efficient at any task asked. I won't say he is lazy anymore, but as a colt, goodness he took his time. He is trainable and willing. His 1st filly hit the ground spring 2024 and she is stamped just like him. You can see photos of her on Hamilton Equine Services Facebook page. Her booty is massive too ! I bred him to my Appendix mare who has a 2023 filly with Guy. So I am excited to see what Sancho throws with that big beautiful mare.

" Guy's " pedigree is why we picked him, and then his mind and train ability, his offspring are stamped with his looks and mind, are why we decided to keep him and stand him. Guy began his performance career in 2022 and didn't disappoint. See his Facebook page for videos
Guy won $2800 his first year competing.

My Sexy Sancho
This young gun, came into the world in 2018. I had owned his mother 12 years, raised several nice babies out of her. This was our planned last one out of his dam. I chose his sire, based off confirmation, the fact he was out on the ranch working and branding as a 3 yr old, and his owners had children they trusted around him. Sancho hit the ground, absolutely stunning, a carbon copy of his sire ! He never had an ugly phase, even as a long yearling. He was started his 3 yr old year and within 5 rides my 10 yr old son was able to ride him in the round pen with little help. He is the kind I can jump on bareback, trail ride, take swimming, take to town and goof off, and ride in mixed company, he is laid back, kind, easy to train, and so incredibly nice to be around. He has wonderful big heavy bone, thick muscle, great feet, he is SMOOTH to ride ! Everything I want in a using horse. I have started lightly patterning him on poles and barrels and hauled him last fall to a few little play days in which he did extremely well. I was in a nasty wreck end of Oct 22. Which left me with 6 broken bones and a 3 month recovery. Sancho was the second horse I swung a leg on, well before I could walk without a limp and pain, and he had been sitting for 3 months. He is trust worthy and honest as they come. I believe his confirmation, disposition and train ability make him a steller stallion for crossing on hotter mares, for ranch horses, and all around colts you want to keep for the family.
